IRON ISLAND
GLOBOPLAY / Episodic
Role / Lead VFX Supervisor, Senior Compositor
Ilha de Ferro is a 2-season Brazilian series shown on Globoplay streaming. The story takes place on an oil platform in Brazil, including the entire offshore environment.
One of the biggest challenges of this project was creating a realistic oil platform for virtual shots and set extensions.
In addition to the 3D project, Visual Effects supported the execution of the scenography built at Estúdios Globo. This project was carried out in 4K HDR, making GloboPlay a pioneer in high-resolution production.
By using meticulous processes that involve building virtual scenarios, modeling, lookdev, lighting, and compositing techniques, the project seamlessly blends live-action footage with intricate visual effects to bring its fantastical narrative to life.
We design and construct underwater pipelines, ships, robots, helicopters, and virtual environments for various weather conditions.
Many challenges were overcome, including using high-speed cameras with motion control cranes. The resulting footage is fantastic and captures the desired artistic qualities of the directors.
"I was the VFX Supervisor for this project in Brazil with numerous visual effects scenes, considered one of the most ambitious ever attempted at TV Globo.
From the outset, I assisted the directors and producers in determining the most suitable technical and artistic approaches for bringing these scenes to life."
